Big win for GP Petrogen become first company in the Middle East and South Asia to earn the prestigious JASO GLV-1 certification

Big win for GP Petrogen has officially become the first company in the Middle East and South Asia to earn the prestigious JASO GLV-1 certification for its ultra-low-viscosity gasoline engine oils.

What is JASO GLV-1?

The JASO GLV-1 standard, developed by the Japanese Automotive Standards Organization, sets the benchmark for 0W-8 and 0W-12 engine oils that deliver:

- Superior fuel economy

- Reduced CO₂ emissions

- Enhanced wear protection

- Control over low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI)

- High oxidation resistance

Why It Matters

As automakers push for smaller, more efficient engines especially in hybrids and turbocharged models low-viscosity oils like 0W-8 are becoming essential.

GP Petrogen’s certified oil is designed to meet the needs of:

- Toyota, Mazda, Honda, and other Japanese hybrid models

- Drivers seeking maximum engine protection with minimal drag

- OEMs targeting aggressive emission goals

 Behind the Certification

GP Petrogen’s R&D team collaborated with additive tech partners and certified labs to develop a formulation that exceeds GLV-1 thresholds.

 It features:

- Fully synthetic base oils

- Advanced friction modifiers

- Thermal and oxidation stabilizers

 Global Reach

The certified 0W-8 oil will be available starting August 2025 in:

- Japan, Thailand, Pakistan

- Germany, Belgium, Canada, USA

This milestone not only sets a new regional benchmark but also positions GP Petrogen as a global leader in lubricant innovation.
